Polyurethane Adhesive Sealants

Polyurethane Adhesive Sealants

Polyurethane one-component adhesive sealants are excellent for making permanent elastic seals and for use as a bonding and sealing adhesive. The moisture curing polyurethane polymer bonds well to metals, metal primers, and many paint coatings. It is flexible, durable, and is widely used in construction and transportation applications. Sikaflex® branded products are the broadest, most widely used one-component polyurethane adhesive sealants around the globe. 3M also has a line of competitive sealants. Engineered Materials is an authorized distributor of Sika® and 3M™ brand adhesives.

Application Ideas: Truck and trailer panel bonding and sealing. Transportation assembly. Curtain wall manufacturing.

Skin time: ~ 1 hour

Non-sag properties: Good

Elongation: Very Good

Service temperature: ≤ 195 °F

Silicone Adhesive Sealants

Silicone Adhesive Sealants

Silicone one-component adhesive sealants are ready to use single component moisturing curing products. They bond well to most substrates without the need for primers, have very high service temperature resistance, and provide an extremely long service life. Extreme environments with UV rays, ozone, and heat or cold have little effect on the products elastomeric properties. For general sealing and bonding applications these fast setting and fast curing sealants allow for high production throughput. Sikasil® branded products are one of the most widely used one-component silicone adhesive sealants around the globe. Engineered Materials is an authorized distributor of Sika® brand products.

Application Ideas: Window glazing, fabrication, and sealing. Kitchen and bath solid surfaces and sanitary seals. Transportation assembly.

Skin time: Minutes

Non-sag properties: Good

Elongation: Very Good

Service temperature: ≤ 350 °F

Butyl Adhesive Sealant Tapes

Butyl Adhesive Sealant Tapes

Butyl tapes are thick, permanently tacky elastic products that stick to most substrates and seal out moisture and liquids. Often used for seaming in construction, they will not stain, are resistant to fungus and mildew growth, and bond well to oily metals and recycled styrene butadiene rubber derived from recycled tires. While the cohesive strength is low, its tacky nature, thickness, and moisture resistance quality make butyl tapes ideal as an easy to apply sealant

Application Ideas: Standing roof seams for metal building roofing skylights, vents etc. Rivet seams and lap seams in truck trailers and RVs. Cabinet sealing in HVAC and appliance production.

Skin time: Remains tacky

Non-sag properties: Excellent

Elongation: Excellent

Service temperature: ≤ 212 °F
