Fish Paper and Alternatives

Fish Paper and Alternatives

Fish paper is also known as electrical grade vulcanized fiber. This fibrous dielectric paper is used in electrical applications for its strength and ease of fabrication. It is light and has great temperature resistance and electrical insulation properties. Unlike plastics, fish paper does not become brittle at cold temperatures, nor does it soften at high temperatures.

Multi-ply, unbleached kraft pulp papers provide an alternative to traditional fish paper. They are strong, lightweight, and tear resistant. They also have excellent dielectric strengths and are exceptionally free of conducting impurities, which gives the materials excellent aging properties.

Applications include: Motor and switch insulation, arc shields, transformer insulation, electrical hardware, lighting fixtures
