Acoustical Management Solutions

Managing noise and vibration is a critical component to product design, though it can often be a secondary consideration. Acoustic management solutions allow for either the absorption of sound or the eradication of it at the source. Nonwoven sound deadening materials create a sound absorption barrier that dramatically reduces high frequency noise. They also often provide the benefit of thermal insulation for moderate temperature applications.

Pressure sensitive adhesives and/or film tape layers can be used in acoustical management solutions to improve overall performance and simplify manufacturing. Alternatively, sound damping pads and films can control resonant vibration and reduce structure-borne noise in metal and composite panels and supporting structures. All these solutions can be provided in slit rolls or die-cut parts based on your specific needs.

Acoustical Insulation Solutions

Nonwoven acoustical insulation provides excellent sound dampening, very good dielectric strength, and good thermal insulation. They are lightweight and have good internal strength, which allows for folding, bending, and scoring. Available with UL94V-0 rating, these sound deadening materials are flame resistant, allowing them to be used for more demanding applications. High temperature thermal insulation should be used in applications where temperatures reach extremes levels.

Sound Damping Pads

Sound deadening materials suppress noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) at the source. They come with self-adhesives for easy installation and can resist outdoor environments, moisture, and flames. Even small, strategically placed die-cut parts can dramatically reduce NVH. Open cell foams and closed cell foams are also often used to absorb and dampen sound.
